htc likes awards 2011: jay park, plain white ts, derrick hoh, janice & sonia


Over the last weekend, HTC Likes Awards 2011 took place at Suntec Convention Hall with performers such as home grown talent Derrick Hoh, Youtube singers Janice & Sonia, Korean act Jay Park and international artistPlain White Ts’. Our Singapore correspondent Linda checks in with all the action from the event!

KPop in Singapore: Jay Park HTC Likes 2011

The show started off with loud cheers from the crowd as Jay Park appeared on stage to present the Most Stylish Award. Several other awards were also given out before Youtube singers Janice & Sonia performed to 3 songs, Janice and on the keyboard while Sonia on her guitar, not only that, they brought along a drummer and another guitarist as well.

After more awards were being presented to the winners, local talent Derrick Hoh took the stage with 3 songs including his latest single, 每时每刻. He also serenaded a lucky fan with ‘Love Story’. A fastest fingers first contest took place on stage as the contestants compete to type the fastest on HTC’s latest phone model.

A mini Denizen fashion show took place before Jay Park brought the heat up with Nothin’ On You, Abandonedand Tonight. Not only were there fans from Singapore supporting him, some fans flew in all the Korea and Thailand to watch his performance that night. Fan chants were loud, clear and united and the fans were all cheering for Jay Park.

More awards were given out including Best Look Alike and Best Dance Moves and the final award given for the night was none other than the HTC Local Hero award. The performing artist’s autographed phones were placed on auction and the proceeds were donated to charity. The highest bid for the night was Derrick Hoh’s autographed phone being auctioned off at $920. Jay Park’s autographed phone was auctioned off at $795.

The final act of the night was Plain White Ts’ as they performed to several songs to finish off the HTC Likes Award, organized to celebrate the crowning of Singapore’s Socialholics.
